Patients New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam Visiting, Giving Gifts for Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate

At the Hospital, the delegation visited and gave gifts to patients being operated by specialists and doctors of Operation Smile. Also, they are grateful to  the doctors and volunteers of Operation Smile and Operation Restore Hope New Zealand as well as the enthusiastic supports from Quang Ngai province.

Ms. Wendy MaThew, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of New Zealand to Viet Nam visited, talked to pediactric patients after cleft lip and cleft palate surgery

It is known that from April 6th  to April 11th ,2019, Operation Smile, Inc cooperated with Operation Restore Hope New Zealand and Germany to examine and give advice nearly 300 patients and implement a humanitarian surgery program for 85 children with Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate at the provincial hospital. This humanitarian program is strongly supported through the diplomatic activities of the New Zealand Ambassador in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee Dang Ngoc Dung introduced some outstanding features about the economic, cultural and social situation of the province. In particular, stay focused on the field of education, health and commercial development. These are 3 areas that Quang Ngai need the cooperation and assistance from other countries in the world, especially New Zealand.

Particularly in the field of health, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hoped that New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam would give the province in supporting the training of  intensive specialist doctors, assist with modern medical equipments. At present, the province has about 900 doctors working at medical facilities from provincial to grassroots levels, which are responsible for health care for more than 1.2 million people. However, Quang Ngai health sector is lacking in intensive specialist doctors as well as modern medical equipment to establish specialized departments to serve patients.

After listening to the sharing of the provincial leaders, Ms. Wendy MaThew, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of New Zealand to Viet Nam thanked the Provincial People's Committee, Department of Health, Quang Ngai Hospital for Children and Women and Operation Smile as well as New Zealand doctors have contributed to this meeting. According to her, the charitable medical examination and treatment is not only a work project but also it comes from the heart. New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam affirmed that it will be a bridge between Vietnam in general, Quang Ngai in particular and New Zealand to have more opportunities for cooperation in various fields, including the health sector.

The visit of New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam contributes to consolidating and strengthening the friendship and cooperative relations between New Zealand and Vietnam in general and Quang Ngai province in particular. At the same time, it is also a highlight for the friendly cooperation between Quang Ngai province and the humanitarian programs organized by Operation Smile.
